The Autumnal Equinox just passed, in celebration of the impending change of season, I am painting in fall colors! These two 12″ x 16″ paintings are new additions to my Tree of Life series. The little silhouetted people continue to make their appearances in my latest work.
Here is “Longing Hearts.” I started with two trees growing towards each other, roots and branches entwined, wanting to make an image similar to my previous painting, “Complete.”
The two people are moving towards each other but unaware of each other’s presence, each wrapped up in their own thoughts as they walk beneath the brilliantly colored leaves of the trees.
Each of the people is in their own beautiful setting, but even as they experience and appreciate the majesty of their natural surroundings, they are both also experiencing a deep longing for connection, understanding, and love.
This is the bittersweet nature of our lives as social, emotional beings–as we move alone through the most beautiful parts of life, taking it all in, we still have this underlying need for each other–a longing.
But, we are never as separate from others as we feel we are.
You can see here how the painting continues around the edges of the canvas.
The title of my next painting directly references the fall: “Season of Plenty.”
The composition of this painting is a revisiting of the tree in my previous painting “Mysterious Night,” but the similarity ends there, as this one is ablaze in bright red!
The person sits under a canopy of red leaves, gazing out upon a bright starry sky, with a gigantic full moon in the background. I imagine the person to be filled with gratitude in this moment, feeling the promise of a rich new beginning. “From this point forward,” the little person thinks, “Anything is possible!”
These paintings won’t officially be available for sale until the spring–I am saving my latest pieces for a sale I’ll be having then–but you may email me if interested.
