This spring forest painting is 30″ x 60″, acrylic on a wood panel.
A walk in the late afternoon in a forest near my home inspired me to paint this beautiful Pacific Northwest forest.
I regularly go walking with my dog on this trail. On this particular spring day, all the trees were beginning to bud and turn green.
The warmth of the sun filtered through the trees, making countless tiny leaves sparkle like diamonds.
This painting captures the feeling of sunshine returning after a gray winter!
I used many shades of green to paint the undergrowth of the forest, which grows thick and wild. There’s a feeling of green leafy plants taking over the whole area with tiny leaves upon leaves, filling the wooded hillside.
Lichen covers the tree trunks in the foreground, the neon green glowing brightly in the warm sunshine.
This painting makes an interior space feel light and joyful. Get lost in the details for a peaceful state of mind.
Because it’s so large-scale, it works well to fill a large wall. It looks like a huge window into a warm spring forest.
