“Sunlit Rhododendron” features a beautiful canopy of rhododendron leaves in the undergrowth of the forest, lit up by the sun.
The taller trees in the forest are hinted at in the far distance.
In the intricate details of the beautiful fans of leaves, you can see the veins of the leaves, and the way the light shines through less in spots where leaves overlap each other, so that the image contains a variety of shades of green, from an almost neon yellow to a very dark, deep forest green.
This original acrylic painting is based on a photo I took on a recent trip to the redwood forests in Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park in California.
In this location, besides the ancient coastal redwood trees, you can also find rhododendrons along the trails, as well as carpets of huge ferns on the forest floor.
This artwork features the dramatic play between light and shadow.
With its vertical format and medium size, this art is perfect for filling a spot where you have a tall, narrow wall.
Looking at this painting is like looking through a window into the forest, bringing the beauty of nature indoors!
